Here are a couple of the leather-ish handbags under construction. A few will have zippers and all will have loads of pockets.
Just figured out this evening that my www.eyesmaderound.com store hadn't been activated. Certainly explains why folks weren't able to purchase product. It's all been fixed so Yay! for figuring out technology. Check it out - new products being posted weekly. The holidays are coming :)
I'm very excited to start getting my newest creations out into the market place. I've been collecting fabrics and just got back from a vacation where I spent some serious time simply sketching out my ideas. This Fall will bring some wonderfully unique products I hope folks will be as excited about as I am.
I just completed a quilt for a friends daughter made from Tour T-shirts for her favorite band she;s been collecting over the past 20 years. Such fun to put it together. I now have a couple of other such requests in the wings for Christmas. I guess it's a good thing I took my back up machine in for a tune-up, looks like I'm going to be needing it. Here's some pictures of the quilt. Will start posting the new line-up as I get them photo ready.
Wahoo! I managed to survive my first true bazaar at Funky Finds and did far better than I anticipated. I met my sales "goal" and received a whole lot of excellent feedback from other vendors who have been doing this a long time. Comments such as "I've not seen anyone else doing what you are doing" made me smile and feel very pleased I have stepped into something which is unique. So onward and upward into more fabric repurposing.
Next up will be Memorial Day weekend when I head to the Lavender Ridge Farm festival just outside of Gainesville, Texas. www.lavenderridgefarms.com There should be about 5000 folks who attend and this will be another great opportunity to introduce people to the idea of re-purposing fabrics into new items. Often repurposing is something just not considered as an option so there is delight in showing people what can be done.
The other exciting news is that I now have two web-based shops. One is on Zibbett.com called threads-by-m.zibbet.com and the other on Etsy.com/eyesmaderound. Very exciting to have both shops up and running. The most difficult part has been finding ways to take good photographs of my products. The mat covers are so long its hard to get a good shot and the totes are hard to get a photo because they collapse on themselves when they aren't full. I'm getting better and having fun figuring it out. Take a look and let me know what you think.
Back to the sewing machine.....
live beautifully and with intention
💥 Got accepted into the Funky Finds show in Fort Worth for March 7-8, 2015 🎉 wahoo.... Guess I best get sewing 😁
Funky Finds is a smaller show but it's a great place to start the year and is a supporter of independent artists, artists and handmade goods; in fact manufactured goods aren't really allowed. Check out their website www.funkyfinds.com.
excited to be part of their Spring Event.
Happy Holidays!! Has it already been a month since last I posted. The bazaar has come and gone and it's almost Christmas and the New Year is about to appear. 2014 has come and gone so quickly.
The Bazaar went alright. I actually sold more than I thought I would and was able to talk with folks who have connections to yoga studios so that was exciting. It was good to sit and spend time with my sister and niece as well as hang out with my family. A rare treat given I live 2400 miles away.
As December and this year come to a close I am looking ahead and am applying for the Minnesota Yoga Conference as a vendor to try my hand at something a bit bigger and more specific to yoga and fitness. I have to submit an application and go through a short jury process. Exciting and frightening at the same time but so scary I won't do it. Costs me nothing and a no is simply an opportunity to try again with better information. (thanks Henry Ford - love that saying).
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and get to spend it with family and friends, those you love.
I've started work on a braided rug that will end up looking like a labyrinth. Hopefully a peaceful kind of rug that can be used for meditation or for peaceful consideration of life. I figure at this point it will take me perhaps 150-200 hours to complete it so it will be little by little. The fabric is left over pieces from the yoga towels so it's a reuse project. I hope it is useful for someone when it is complete.
